Dear VPPA Members,
We wanted to give everyone a heads-up about our Capital event on Sunday, April 6. Andrew Bowen, a dance photographer from Greensboro, NC, will be giving a class at Fred Morton’s studio on Dance Photography and working with dancers. Andrew is widely recognized for his thoughtful and caring approach to working with dancers to celebrate their art as he captures amazing images. He has won numerous regional, national and international awards. Most recently, he was selected as a Finalist in the World Photographic Cup. To gain a deeper appreciation of his work, please visit his website https://abowenstudios.com/
This will be a hands-on photography workshop designed to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the dance world, how to respectfully work with dancers, dance-specific lighting considerations, and other insights that will help you expand your ability. We will have several bays, and everyone will shoot. NOTE: Any images that you wish to use must be approved by the dancers. We want to protect their individual creativity and professional status.
Given the focus of the workshop, participant enrollment will be limited to the first twenty members who sign up and intend to actively participate.
We believe there is a lot of interest in this topic. You will need to bring your camera, tripod and trigger (if you have one) and be ready to engage and photograph our dancers.
We will be using a mix of Flashpoint/Godox flashes. We have triggers for every brand of camera except Leica. The class will go from 12 PM to 6 PM at Fred Morton Photography, 2500 Grenoble Road, Henrico, VA 23294.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Fred Morton at 804-833-6440, [email protected] or [email protected].
