Building on his Sunday Nov 8 presentation, Rick will share new information and insights where participants will be able to directly apply these skills with models. Lights and triggers will be provided, and Rick will be available to critique and make suggestions to improve your approach as you apply his knowledge. There will be four components, with two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Depending on registration we will have 3- 4 bays with different lighting and backdrops. Monday morning will include:

Part A - Creating High Fashion Headshots 

You will learn how to take your portraiture photography to the next level. Rick shares the lighting, posing, and retouching methods he has developed over decades of creating award-winning portraits. Whether you’re photographing models, business professionals, actors, or everyday clients, you’ll leave the class with the knowledge and confidence to produce stunning high-fashion head shots that stand out from the crowd.

Part B - The Art of Fashion, Light & Movement.

This session will take glamour and fashion photography beyond the traditional portrait, and you learn how to create images with movement, attitude, drama, and impact. Rick will demonstrate flying and shaping a dress, directing expressive body language, and how to use the art of hand posing to create elegant, believable fashion photographs. Rick will also demonstrate how to use multiple-light setups to sculpt the body, separate the subject, enhance the clothing, and give fashion images greater depth and dimension.

Part C - Create Portraits That Tell a Story

Photography is more than capturing a face—it is the art of creating emotion, elegance, and timeless beauty. In this inspiring session, students will discover how lighting, posing, and expression come together to produce portraits with impact and purpose. Key learning will include dramatic posing that creates graceful, elegant poses that flatter every subject and understanding how subtle movements create confidence, beauty, and emotion. In addition, he will explain how to light with intent using matching lighting patterns to shape and create mood and atmosphere, fine art composition and professional finishing techniques to create a Fine Art portrait without losing realism.

Part D - The Art of Nostalgic Photography

We will step back with Rick into the glamour, mystery, and sophistication of the 1920s, an era known for bold fashion, dramatic posing, and beautifully directed light. He will demonstrate how to recreate the unmistakable look of vintage Hollywood while adding a modern photographic touch. You will explore strong, dramatic lighting, classic 1920’s posing and body language, and learn how wardrobe can completely transform the mood of a portrait. Vintage clothing will be provided to help create an authentic nostalgic experience. Rick will also share his techniques for using LED and projection lighting to create dramatic shadows, patterns, texture, and atmosphere—bringing the elegance of the 1920s back to life.
